Q: There’s this girl I like a lot and I’m thinking of making a move pretty soon. We have the same circle of friends so I’ve known her for a while and so do most of my boys. The problem is that all of them think she’s a slut and have basically told me I’m an idiot if I date her.  While she has an extensive list of sexual partners, she’s a sweetheart and I really want to get to know her on a more personal level. My friends will never let me hear the end of it, though. Should I take what they’re saying into consideration?

A: Okay, let me preface my answer with this: I despise using the term I’m about to use so clearly this must be the best word to describe what’s going on here.  Your buddies are hating. Plain and simple. There’s no other reason why a bunch of dudes would try to keep another dude from getting to know a chick he likes. Especially by disparaging her name and calling her a slut. I don’t know why people use that term, really. So what a woman likes sex and has it a lot? Why is anyone else concerned except the parties involved? Why take the time to call her out for it? Worry about your own sex life, or lack thereof. Okay, soapbox, goodbye.  My point is that when two adults decide to be together, on whatever level, outside opinions be damned. Your friends sound bitter and sad. If on the off chance they are truly looking out for your well-being, my answer is still the same. Go get your girl!
