People turned out in full force on Sunday at the Dumbo Loft for Brooklyn Indie Market’s Steampunk Fashion Show. There was so much Steampunk to take in: from attendees wearing their Steampunk best to vendors selling merchandise and not to mention the highlight of it all – the fashion show. So what exactly is Steampunk you ask? Wikipedia defines it as “Specifically, steampunk involves an era or world where steam power is still widely used—usually the 19th century and often Victorian era Britain—that incorporates prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy.” So think goggles, elaborated time pieces, corsets and well, you’ll see what we mean in our pictures.
Lola Lola Dance Company kicked things off to an amazing fashion show featuring the works of seven designers: Artificial Intrigue, Kristin Costa, Kelly Kotulak’s Studio Hibernacular, Karen Von Oppen, Veronica Dewitt, Heartless Revival and Berit New York, whose clothing was paired with hats by La China Loca. All the collections were amazing, but our personal favorite was the Heartless Revival collection, which was truly stunning, with its handmade zippers and leather across the seas from Thailand. Take a look and see for yourself!
