Morton's Steakhouse - known for serving excellent steak has 70 locations nation and worldwide, but soon there will only be 69.  Opened November 20, 2008, the Brooklyn location (no longer on Morton's website) - occupying space on the street level of Brooklyn Marriott Hotel Downtwon - will soon close its door to the public.

Yes, we were just as shocked as you when we received a call about a half hour ago from their marketing representative informing us they will no longer be participating in our 2nd Annual Tasting Brooklyn event - bummer.   So of course we reached out to their PR reps to find out why and when, but no word yet.

Wow, so where the heck do all the guests at Marriott Hotel eat? The Marriott does have a restaurant but from first hand experience, they certainly cannot whip up the carnivorous steaks Morton's does.  I clearly remember their opening day - such a wonderful evening - and so much meat! Such is life and with the current economy's stae, and so many affordable restaurants opening nearby, I guess we really shouldn't be that surprised.  Farewell Morton's - you will be missed.

The restaurant opened in 2008 and closed for business this morning [Monday, February 1, 2012].
