FRIDAY JANUARY 20

Le Train Bleu Presents: Steve Reich’s ‘Different Trains’
8pm, Galapagos Art Space (16 Main Street, Dumbo) Tickets: $20/$25
Le Train Bleu is a new musical collective formed by flutist and conductor Ransom Wilson. This evening of music is set to feature Steve Reich’s “Different Trains.” And what better place to enjoy some instrumental tunes than in the dark watery ambiance of Galapagos?

Farewell Party for the Old American Can Factory
8pm, Issue Project Room (232 3rd Street, Gowanus), Tickets: $15
Brooklyn’s experimental music community will be wishing a farewell to the Issue Project space at the Old American Can Factory in Gownaus and move to 110 Livingston in Downtown Brooklyn.  This final night will feature a closing concert and record release party with Jonathan Kane’s February Talibam! and MV Carbon & Tony Conrad.   Free CDs to the first 10 people!

Califone and Gem Club
8pm, Littlefield (622 DeGraw Street, Gowanus), Tickets: $15
Join this ‘90s-era Chicago art-rock band as they make a rare appearance in our borough. Led by frontman Tim Rutilli, this group mixes soft folk with electric blues for a full and lively sound.

SATURDAY JANUARY 21

Tomboy
5pm, indieScreen (285 Kent Avenue) Tickets: $11
indieScreen will open Tomboy, a film about a ten year old girl who, upon moving to a new town, is mistaken for a boy. She decides to live up to this new identity, never clarifying the mistake. indieScreen is one of the new theaters in Williamsburg, and it is always nice to support a small spot that is off the beaten path.

Wasabassco Burlesque
11pm, Union Hall (702 Union Street), Tickets: $12
Enjoy some burlesque at this intimate local venue with the ladies of Wasabassco. This performance will feature Sapphire Jones, Medianoche, Nasty Canasta, Nikki Le Villain, Doc Wasabassco and some stage kittening by Mala Morrigan. Get your pasties ready. 

Lunation: Art on the Moon
12-6pm, Observatory (543 Union Street), Tickets: Free
This exhibit features over 20 artists contributing their homage to the moon. If you decide to come for the day you can take part in a Moon Magick Ritual Workshop with Pam Grossman.

SUNDAY JANUARY 22

Muppet Vault: Miss Piggy!
2pm, Union Hall (702 Union Street), Tickets: $8
Pig fans of all ages are invited to celebrate the most famous one of all, Miss Piggy. This event will include a screening of The Fantastic Miss Piggy Show, as well as Muppet episodes, songs, and drink specials. This is a monthly series presented by ToughPigs.com and Secret Formula featuring classic and rare footage of The Muppets.

The General
12:30pm, Nitehawk Cinema (136 Metropolitan Avenue), Tickets: $11
Buster Keaton plays engineer Johnnie Gray in this black and white silent comedy, featuring a series of dangerous choreographed stunts. Hayes Greenfield and the Eclectic Eclectic will perform live to accompany the film.

The Zen Tricksters + Rob Baraaco + BuzzUniverse + Keith Kenny
7:30pm, Brooklyn Bowl (61 Wythe Avenue), Tickets: $10
Enjoy some friend chicken, seasonal local brews, and bowling while chilling out to the music of The Zen Tricksters. This jam band will be playing Grateful Dead covers as well as original tunes.
